CHICAGO (AP) Duncan Keith was back on the ice after a short first practice of the Chicago Blackhawks of preseason camp.

Two-time winner of the Norris Trophy as the best NHL defenseman of the team attended roughly 25-minute workout on Friday.

Keith withdrew from Team Canada at the World Championship in ice hockey to continue rehabbing his right knee. He said it was skating this month '' just trying to go 'and he is happy with the' progression, it was basically since I started skating again. ""

Assistant coach Mike Kitchen - who is running the team while coach Joel Quenneville is the Canadian team at the World Cup of Hockey - said the plan is for Keith to '' come at their own pace. "

"" It will let us know when it is ready to intervene in the scuffle, and we can rev it a little bit in practice, doing some individual drills with him, if it gets to that point, '' said the kitchen.

The team also posted a video Keith walking towards the playing surface before Friday's practice.

Three-time Stanley Cup winner with the Blackhawks had surgery last October to repair a torn meniscus. He returned less than a month later, and finished the season with nine goals, 34 assists and an average ice time of 25 minutes, 14 seconds.
